Upcoming Wood Badge Course Directors Selected
For 2020 and 2021
Northern Star Scouting is pleased to announce the selection of three outstanding volunteers to serve as course directors for upcoming Wood Badge courses.
Fall 2020 Course Director
Rich Greiner, Jr has been selected to lead the Fall 2020 course. He has been active in Pack 82, Troop 82, North Star district, 2013 & 2017 National Jamborees, and Northern Star University of Scouting and Wood Badge. Rich is currently an Assistant Scoutmaster and Eagle Coach with Troop 82.
Rich’s experience staffing five previous Wood Badge courses will help him lead a team to deliver the revised Wood Badge curriculum. The new Wood Badge program will shorten the course length from six days to five and will include a greater focus on leadership and self-reflection. Rich, along with backup course director, Matt Markham, will be the first course to implement the new program in Northern Star Council. The course will be held at Stearns Scout Camp on September 11-13 and October 3-4, 2020.
2021 Course Directors
The Winter 2021 course will be led by Rick Nylin. Rick has been involved with Northern Lights District through Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the Order of the Arrow in addition to roles Grey Wolf/NYLT, Wood Badge, and other Council trainings. Currently, Rick’s primary role in Scouting is with the Grey Wolf/NYLT program.
Brenda Wherry will be leading our Fall 2021 course. Brenda is currently serving as Backup Course Director for Winter 2020 and has been serving in Scout Troops since 2006, holding positions on the Troop, District and Council levels. She is currently transitioning into the role of Northern Star Trainer’s EDGE coordinator.
